Another wonderful design by Brenda Bonilla. This would be so cute to add to a book as a gift for a child. If the child is very young you might want to go for the sew down type of eyes. I want Sassi slithering over my shoulder on a sweater. Maybe a metallic Sassi? Have fun and send Brenda a big thank you for this design!

Materials:

  • 4.75 Yds Multi-Colored Thread Sz 20
  • #5 (med.) Tatting Needle (or 2 shuttles)
  • Wire Needle Threader
  • Sharp-pointed Scissors
  • 2 ea. Moving Eyes (7mm)
  • All-purpose Silicone Adhesive (for eyes)

Instructions:

Wind off about 2.5 yards of thread from the ball, but Do Not Cut. Thread

Needle, leaving about a 4-inch tail. Begin 1st ring with needle thread,”ball” thread will be used for completing the 2nd half of a series of split rings for the body, as well as the final chain.To lengthen sassi, increase each ring by one, starting with split ring set 11/11.

After completing own, weave both of the remaining tail threads back through all of the chain stitches. Trim excess.
Tie an overhand knot onto the center of the large picot to form two separate segments. Cut the end of the loop in half to represent a “forked” tongue.

Glue the eyes on with a small amount of adhesive. Press eyes firmly for about a minute and lot city. Sassi’s, favorite author is James Herriot!
