Mittens For Akkol
CIC (Children in Common) is having a mitten knitting challenge this month. Knit as many mittens as possible for the children in an orphanage in Akkol, Kazakakhstan. Baby its really cold there, and these children are very poorly dressed. Visit the site to have your heart moved a bit. Get rid of those odds and ends of wool and whip up a few pairs of mittens. If you live in a warmer climate like I do, but love to work with wool, if you family is less then thrilled with hand knitted items, knit for Akkol. No one will turn their nose up at your efforts.

That’s really cute button! And I love what you said about CIC knitting. That’s why I knit for CIC – I love to knit & crochet, and my family (and extended family) does not appreciate hand knits. I love wool, so I knit for CIC (and use up acrylic which I don’t really care for, for nursing home afghans)

I loved your turkey story! The first time I cooked a turkey was for both sides of our family at once, and it came out…undercooked…oops!
Now DH does the turkey, and he does a fab job! I have to make the gravy, but he does the rest, even whips up mean stuffing and potatoes.
