Cozy Cables (CIC Big Kids Jumper)
I completed the body last night. Some wiser element of my brain decided not to try and pick up the sleeve stitches by the light of my monitor
Because my row gauge is off from the pattern, I ended up picking up more stitches then I need. Its like sock gussets, you pick up whatever you need so you don’t have holes. Then just work them off. The first round I worked off the extra stitches. I have completed just four rows of the sleeves, when I realized that I desperately need to do some laundry. Sadly put the knitting aside and off the laundry salt mines. I am doing the sleeve, magic loop. I have several 10 1/2 needles, but the INOX Express have been the easiest to work the double stands of yarn with. The points have a nice long slant but not to sharp a point. I don’t think I will have both sleeves knit by the 15th. Weekends around here get a bit hectic.
Patons Classic Wool Merino, 10 1/2 needles used about 500 yards of yarn so far. It is a very nice yarn and I wouldn’t mind having something made of it myself. Except for my laziness about hand washing. Hand washing a pair of socks is one thing. Wrestling a full sized sweater is another. I have been eying that Patons Urban Aran as a cardigan Urban Aran Cardigan Which I think would look better on me that the long unlamented Einstein Jacket

That is looking very nice.
I like Patons Classic a lot too. A few years ago, I made myself a couple of sweaters with doubled yarn. They were favorites for a year or so and then went into the donate bag. I knit so many sweaters that I move them along.
I have the pattern booklet called Street Smart (that has that urban aran cardi). Mmmm…I like a lot of the patterns. Really like the cover hoodie (except for bobbles which I would omit) and the one called Must Have Cardigan.

Sorry about the doubles — Blogger being it’s screwed up self.

I think Blogger is having a nervous breakdown. I expect this sweater will look nicer after a bath and a blocking. But I am please with it so far.
I think Jean did the Must Have Cardigan, and maybe a few other Elannites. It was right when I first joined.
Isn’t the Urban Aran a pullover? I think he adapted it to a cardigan. I love the shaping

What a pretty combination of sts and in that beautiful blue. Cables are cozy, aren’t they? I wanted to do a cable afghan but the yarn I have in mind is mohair so probably would be a waste of effort.

I wanted to thank you for leaving a comment on my blog and I’m so happy to see your sweater in progress. I love the color blue you chose — and you knit so evenly. I jumped here to comment before I read your blog, but I take it from some of the other comments you used Patons Classic. Is that a bulky weight yarn? I’m just curious. I used a worsted weight and a bigger needle to get to the gauge, but the sweater is too loose I think. Yours looks perfect! Can’t wait to see the finished product.

I like the Paton’s classic-it IS nice yarn. I think it would be a great cardi-go buy yourself some Euclann!

I should have gone ahead and also test knit that sweater for Marguerite, instead of struggling with this boy sweater I am working on now. Yours looks great. Thanks for the link to the Urban Aran Cardigan. Brooklyn Tweed did a much better job than Patons did. I have the Must Have Cardigan on the needles right now (been there for a long time!)
